# CLI

> Run SegmentationAPI from the terminal with the segment CLI.

The unpublished `segment` CLI wraps [`@segmentationapi/sdk`](/sdks) for terminal
and script use. Every command also exists in the [API reference](/api-reference).

```

`--json` is pipe-safe, `--quiet` prints IDs only, otherwise commands print
human tables. See [Authentication](/authentication) for credentials: `segment
auth login` signs in with Google, or persist a secret with `segment keys set`.

```

There is no `jobs wait` — poll `jobs get` until `success`. Holding an
unrestricted secret on disk is account-takeover-equivalent; prefer short-lived
sessions where you can.
