# Free API trial

> Use 100 free image tokens through the production API without a credit card.

Process 100 images through the production API without entering a card. The one-time 14-day period starts when your first trial job is accepted.

## Offer and eligibility

Active accounts with a verified email and no paid billing access can use the trial. Submit jobs through `POST /v1/jobs` or `client.jobs.createJob()`.

* 100 successfully processed images. Failed images consume nothing.
* JPEG, PNG, and WebP inputs up to 15 MiB.
* One to three images per job and one best-effort active trial job.
* Results and archive downloads stay available under normal account retention.
* Video, larger batches, and continued processing require paid access.
* Credits are one-time and do not reset monthly.

Trial accounting is approximate. Concurrent requests may process slightly more than 100 images, while the displayed remaining balance never goes below zero.

## Errors and capacity

Clients should read the structured `error` field. Trial errors include `trial_video_not_allowed`, `trial_batch_limit_exceeded`, `trial_credits_insufficient`, `trial_credits_exhausted`, `trial_expired`, `trial_job_in_progress`, and `trial_capacity_temporarily_unavailable`. Capacity responses use HTTP 503 and include a retry delay. Paid jobs bypass the free-capacity gate.

## Upgrade

Open billing from the [dashboard](https://app.segmentationapi.com) to activate paid processing at \$0.02 per token. A trial job already in progress remains free. Later jobs use paid limits and Stripe metering.
